Update on my bra pattern progress

I have been working on this silently. A new test bra is on my sewing table, here’s an inside of a cup. Can you spot how many stitches are there? I surely lost count!

I’m working hard on several levels. I have already started to write useful pages for my bra pattern release. You can check this one: About elastics stretch amount

And since I am muttering about drafting and testing the bra pattern, would you like to see what were the changes I made to the pattern from version 1 to version 5 (current version)? Most of the adjustments were made to the cup; the band changed slightly and was not worth showing. So here it is:

  • Green line – cup version 1 – a test bra was not sewn, just a foam cup
  • Blue line – cup version 3 – this is the white bra
  • Red line – cup version 5 – this is the bra I’m currently making

Version 2 was this beige bra. Version 4 was a cup from foam only which I was not satisfied with. Every version I made was better than the previous. I’m getting to the level where I feel pleased with the cup shape and bra design. Take a pick on these cup versions made of foam:

There’s visible improvement. The last cup has a beautiful full almost round shape. Not pointy anymore!

I think, for my first bra pattern I should have started with an easier design for a cup, like a two-piece cup. But, I won’t complain much about it, going further and not looking back! Except for when I have to cut so many pieces:

Yep, that’s the next test bra! I don’t have much to show, just a few pictures:

I’m eagerly awaiting next weekend to finish this piece of lingerie!
